Decent prices for breakfast, great food, great atmosphere, very clean, and our waitress was super sweet! Even for being as busy as this place was, the service was still great! Conveniently located near the ferry terminal! Our waitress immediately came and filled our coffees. I ordered one of the breakfast specials called the Cancan scramble, he ordered the steak & eggs! Yum!

Perfectly good brunch here in the off season (and frankly, one of the only breakfast-ish places open in Oaks Bluff in the off season). Your typical diner, with friendly service and strong coffee. I got the Alabama (chicken fried steak) which was solid, but you're definitely not in the south, and my dish could have been just a tad warmer. Extra props for our super patient waitress, as we were indecisive about what to order and she had to come back more than once. Ordering service was fast, but food came out slow because the place was packed. Reliable, affordable spot for diner food on the island.

Ok, need to give credit where credit is due. In one sentence, my breakfast was excellent! To elaborate, Haven't been a fan of Linda Jeans dinners the past year, but their breakfast was delicious! 2 perfectly hot poached eggs over hot crab cakes (seared crispy on the outside with big chunks of crabmeat on the inside), covered in hollandaise sauce with delicious season potatoes on the side! Service was friendly and attentive. I feel complete! I gave 3 stars only because my dinner experience below, in my earlier review, was so poor. If I have dinner there again, which I may on this visit to the island, I will update stars to reflect. I hope dinner has improved, so I can add stars. I would like too! wow, breakfast doesn't get much better than today's breakfast on planet Earth!

Linda Jeans was a great spot to stop for breakfast. Service was friendly and prompt...Eggs, Hash and home fries were very good. Blueberry/Peach pancakes were also very good. This place is close to the ferry and right in the middle of the strip on Circuit ave.

Hubby is a traditionalist when it comes to breakfast so after perusing the options in Oak Bluffs and the vicinity, Linda Jean's came out on top. Luckily we're early risers so no lines for us! We were seated and had good coffee in front of us in no time at all. It was a Sunday, so one option I splurged for was a watermelon mimosa. OH my, that was good! Service was prompt with a little sass - just how we like our mornings to start. Choices included cinnamon bread french toast and an omelette, both very good. But I have to take off a star for the wimpy homefries. Barely any crisp to them. Also, the prices. I know, I know - it's MV. But dropping almost $45 on breakfast is a bit unnerving, even with that mimosa. Good food, great service. Just remember to only order exactly what you'll eat because you're paying dearly for every morsel.

Their breakfast is good but nothing really special. The food was okay. I have heard about this places many many times but I personally wasn't impressed with the food that I ordered. Also, they were incredibly busy and I felt like the waitress was exhausted and wasn't really happy to see us. I mean when you are on vacation, you care about having your server being nice and friendly as you are in the mood of having fun and enjoying your day

One of the best breakfasts I've had. Literally everything on the menu sounds like a winner. I had the veggie omelette with a side of potatoes-- my mouth waters as I write this. It was delicious (in addition to being very reasonably priced)! Also, when there's a wait, they take your cell number, allowing you to walk around all the nearby shops. They text you when your table is ready, that way you're not wasting your time standing around bored and hungry. We are driving back there right now for another feast!

Linda Jean's is a tradition every year we visit the Vineyard. We don't go because the food is fantastic or because the service is great, but because it's convenient. Our server (wish I had written her name down) was horrible, beyond horrible really. The only time she talked to us was when she came to ask what we wanted to eat. We had to ask for kids waters, so stopped her and politely asked. She walked away, grabbed them and then set them back down without a word. She dropped the bill without a word. When she returned with the bill, handed it to my husband and didn't even bother to say thank you. We had to return one thing to the kitchen. The guy who brought our food out and remedied the situation was the only redeeming quality of this visit (again, wish I had gotten his name). Server never came to apologize or even ask if the second one was better. Now, being a past server in a summer tourist town, I am very aware of one's patient limit and how it lacks by the end of the summer. This also makes me very understanding of how one can have a bad day, but this was beyond. However, that is no excuse to make your patrons experience horrible. Go in the kitchen and complain, we've all done it. Oh, and two of the three bathrooms were out of order. The one that worked was absolutely disgusting. I wouldn't let my kids touch a thing in there. Unfortunately, we will be rethinking this tradition after this year's visit. Wish I could have said something in the restaurant but people were packed in like sardines and noone stopped long enough for me to get a word in.....

We came here yesterday and it was super busy. We sat at our booth for about 15 min before being asked if we wanted something to drink. The food wasn't that great either my boyfriend ordered steak and eggs and he never even touched his steak . The bathroom was also very gross. There were two flies that kept trying to land in out food which was super annoying.

  • Candice D.

Linda Jean's stays busy. And it never disappoints for breakfast. I order the Alabama...country fried steak with gravy, home fries, two eggs over medium and a buttery biscuit! My friends love their pancakes! Had a mimosa this time...it was good...but, I'm a kid at heart...get the hot cocoa with whipped cream! Be prepared to wait but it's well worth it

We have really enjoyed breakfast at Linda Jean's a couple of years running. It is a down home place that has a great vibe. It's not fancy, it's just what a good breakfast place should be. We've had incredibly friendly service, and excellent food. We've enjoy plain pancakes, blueberry pancakes, and our little man loved the special peach blueberry pancakes. We've also enjoyed the fruit bowl, as well as a couple of different omelets. If you enjoy value for the dollar, and a great, hearty breakfast, get here early!

  • Richie S.

Despite the usual long wait time to be seated, it is more that worth it. The food here is always top notch and nothing says it better than breakfast. My wife and I just had our last meal for the weekend getaway here on the island so we had to make it Linda Jean's. I highly recommend the steak and eggs because they give you a nice sized sirloin strip. Enjoy!

Had breakfast here and would definitely go back. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food came out in a timely manner and was very good. Would recommend for breakfast to anyone visiting.

My husband and I always get breakfast here every year when visiting Oak Bluffs. It's reliable diner-type food with lots of seafood options. Reasonable prices too. We usually have a clam strip roll at least once. My fave dessert is strawberry shortcake and they have a decent one here, made with a biscuit. It's a nice place to go if you want a break fe the ocean view eateries, which can add up after a while

  • Ethan R.

Very family friendly and good for younger kids. Prices are very reasonable and portions are larger for those looking for more bang-for-buck. The food itself was fine, nothing that stood out. I got the veal Parmesan, which was okay. The salad that came with it was bland. My wife tried the chowder and it needed a kick of old bay. Daughter had chicken tenders which were good. Overall - more of a family value place than a restaurant you'd go to for a memorable or delicious dining experience.

  • A D.

I've been going to Linda Jeans for 20 years. The prices have risen but the service is still fast and helpful. In summer the line waiting outside confirms that it's the place you want to be. In the other ten months of the year it's faster but just as yummy. The staff has never been grumpy and has always gotten it right for me. If you're lucky enough to come off-season, you'll remember it for the food instead of the crowd. This morning, all of my guests had big smiles as their orders arrived. Only one struggled to finish the huge portions. Still the best place on the island.

Convenient, solid, breakfast food. Super convenient, friendly, and wholesome. Love the biscuits and it's a hit for the hubby too!

  • Melinda N.

Service was kind of slow bc as the waitress explained it to us... She is taking the orders in the order seated even if we knew what we wanted to eat ten minutes before the table that sat down before us did. Otherwise fresh squeezed oj good portions very buttery and absolutely indulgent. Try the oaks bluff omelette or Belgian waffles or order both and split it w a friend so you get a little bit of everything. The waitress was accommodating of our special requests because some of my friends were vegetarians or lactose...really appreciate that.

    (4)
  • Don S.

The chef salad was ok for a salad. Service was less than expected. Our waitress disappeared. We flagged down another waitress and she started caring for us by refilling our drinks which were empty. A manager sat at the table next to us and counted the money in the register draw. Lots of wait staff stand by the bar talking and checking their phones.

All I have to say is the "Jacob" home fries is the best ever! Delicious!!!

Typical breakfast dinning place. I ordered healthy starter omelette. Service was fast even on a busy summer morning.

  • Chris B.

Good food great service quick. Best brunch for sure, never tried dinner in all my years here (weird). But a SOLID awesome breakfast situation.

  • Jason S.

We had a decent lunch here. Fried scallop roll, grilled scallop entree, and chicken parmigiana. The grilled scallops were definitely overcooked but the fried scallop roll was a solid 6.5 out of 10. I'm glad that we checked Yelp first since we almost dined at another venue on Circuit Ave that ended up having only 1.5 stars! (Thank you yelp!) Service was good and the value wasn't bad for a quick lunch. The restaurant was clean and food was brought out promptly.

  • Kevin B.

Fast and Outstanding food in such a busy place. The atmosphere and Staff are great! There's a line Sunday mornings but it's worth the wait. Leave your name and number they'll text you when your table is ready.

Dear my sweet Linda Jean, If I could give you more stars I would. Linda Jean, whoever you are, you've set the bar high for pancakes. Unfortunately I can't drive out there every morning...I mean I guess I can, but then again... Those pecan pancakes with the pecan sauce (no syrup, just sauce) were the best thing I've ever tasted. And believe you me Linda, these lips have been around the country tasting things. I got to the point where my stomach was begging me to stop eating, but my mind and taste buds told it to shut up & I kept chewing & swallowing. Linda Jean. You took my breath away.... Forever yours, Courtney S.

  • Alice H.

Been here twice with a friend so far.. once for breakfast and once for dinner. For breakfast, I had the banana foster french toast from the specials menu, and it was delicious! Whatever was in the sauce (maybe the butter?) gave the dish a perfect salty and sweet combination. Definitely the star of the dish, I wish I could have more! The actual french toast itself could've been cooked a little longer.. the very centers on some were a bit mushy and you could taste some uncooked eggs. The coffee was just ok to me.. I probably wouldn't get it again, but my friend really enjoyed her oj. The next time for dinner, I had the homemade meatloaf and mashed potato, which was also very good. I was disappointed with the corn because i was expecting corn on the cob, but instead got something that looked and tasted like it came from a can. My friend got the wings platter, which she found unimpressive and really disappointing. The waitress was really nice, offering to change it for something else (she ended up with the meatloaf dinner); kudos to their customer service! Overall, I would definitely recommend trying here for breakfast or brunch, but maybe not dinner.

    (4)
  • Loni A.

To be fair, I believe they are known for their breakfast/brunch and we didn't have either. We went for lunch and it was ok. I had 3 kinds of wings (sesame...that had no sesame anything on them, buffalo and asian spice) and my hubs had the shrimp platter. Both were just ok. Was expecting more for the money. The service was great though, which is why I gave it 3 stars.

  • Jaraya B.

My whole family loved the food and we are dying to go back. They had delicious eggs and amazing strawberry banana French toast, good waffles but the bacon was a little undercooked so we didn't eat it. You have to wait to get in and they give you the beeper and sometimes they run out if kids menu and they let you order anything that's on the kids menu from the big menu and they price the amount it is on kids menu. They have a nice atmosphere and they have very nice waitress and I would promote this restaurant to you guys. FYI- it's kinda cold in there

    (4)
  • Angie L.

Good food, however the wait time was really long and they did a poor job of estimating the time. There was also a bigger wait time than I anticipated once the order was placed

    (4)
  • Leandra G.

I love this place; it's perfect for lunch or breakfast and for families. The pancakes are golden and delicous. I also had the fried clam strips and those were really good as well. The decor of the restaurant is very nice and old fashiones.

  • Clement M.

Ate here the evening we arrived and the next morning. The food was pretty decent and the service was acceptable. Not outstanding but good enough, especially since very few eateries were opened for the season yet on May 6.

    (4)
  • Suzanne L.

First breakfast on the Island. Right before the season really kicks in, so we were able to sit right down. Egg white scramble with spinach, onion, and Swiss....delicious. Home fries had great flavor. Very cute place. Good service. I recommend it!

  • Erica S.

Came here for breakfast one day while staying nearby. Similar to an IHOP, but more expensive and with a healthier menu. You would expect more out of it considering the clientele, although Oak Bluffs is more touristy than most of the Vineyard. We waited for quite a while to get in (25 minutes), which was a minor inconvenience. I got two hardboiled eggs, hash browns, and bacon. My food was average. I like my bacon crispy, and they brought it to me just a little too fatty. I sent it back, which they were happy to accommodate, but when they brought it back to me it was basically cardboard. Disgusting. I sent it back again and they still didn't get it right. Oh well. My guests' food was far better than mine: blueberry pancakes and cranberry pecan pancakes. Yum. Wish I had gotten that.

    (2)
  • Meg M.

yummy breakfast food and inexpensive for the vineyard! service is friendly but slow - factor that in to the amount of time you want to be there. if you're going around brunch time, be prepared to wait (30 min-1 hr). think of it as oak bluff's neighborhood breakfast spot and you will not be disappointed. my fiance craves the alabama - chicken fried steak with gravy, eggs and a biscuit - all year long!

  • Alka R.

Linda Jean's Has it all for breakfast. We have vacationed on MV for a few years and have scoured the island for good breakfasts. While most places have one or two outstanding dishes, LJ's impressed all of us. We ate the gamut: the healthy; eggbeater scramble was fresh, with crisp vegetables, and great home fries. The sweet; belgian waffle with syrup; crisp outside and soft inside, can get anywhere, but not done well most places, and The unhealthy; known as the Alabama, country fried steak with gravy, biscuits, eggs and home fries. The steak was pounded thin and tender, the breading spicy and crisp. The gravy was done to perfection, dark and peppery, more than just the normal roux with milk found so often. The eggs, over easy, in my case, were done perfectly and the biscuits would be at home in a church basement in it's namesake state. The service was also outstanding. While bringing food, one slice of toast fell onto the table. Without us saying a word, the server offered a quick apology and brought a second plate of toast immediately. The coffee was always full and the dining room was clean. Well done all round.

Love the Vineyard...and now I have another reason why. Started my walk at 5:30 am and made it to the center of Oak Bluffs at 6:30. The Apple Fritters were not ready at Backdoor Donuts (shame on you) so I walked to Circuit Street and saw Linda Jeans. Special for breakfast...Seafood Omelet! I was sold. At 6:30 Sunday Morning, there were very few people here. The older skinnier waitress was very pleasant and I ordered the Seafood Omelette, Tomato Juice and Coffee. Coffee and Tomato Juice were quick to arrive. I had time to add my cream and sweetener take a sip...and there was my omelette. What fast service, and what a fantastic omelette. The seafood omelette was fantastic. Loaded with shrimp, bay scallops (not a big fan of bay scallops...) crab meat, mushrooms. I am a very big eater and I could not finish the whole omelette! The coffee was also great. Perhaps the best coffee on the Island. I thought that breakfast the first day was so good, I would go back again on a second day. Started my walk again at 5:30 am on Monday and arrived at 6:30 am...less people in the restaurant, and this time I had the younger, heavier waitress. No personality at all. Ordered another omelette and again the service (minus personality) was fantastic. Coffee again ... best on the island. First I apologize to the waitstaff...I didn't catch your names and my description of your appearance was not meant to be derogatory at all. But there was a difference in service. Second...one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Third...Love listening to the old timers/regulars complain about everything under the sun. I was not deliberately eavesdropping, but it was quite entertaining. The reason I am adding this to the review is that if the Islanders go here for breakfast...it has to be a good place. I would strongly recommend that if you are in Oak Bluffs and you want a fantastic breakfast...this is the place to go. Forget about the Coffee shops....their coffee is just as good if not better!

My wife and I just love this little place. It was the first place we went to upon arrival at Oak Bluffs. It was 10AM and I had "The Mess" and she had the "Green Eggs & Ham". Both were yummy and they gave us quite a bit. We liked it so much that we stopped in again just before our ferry. We split a bowl of clam chowder and a side of cheese fries, which we couldn't finish. You definitely won't leave hungry at this place!

    (4)
  • Karen S.

Very pleasant. There was a 15 minute wait. They give you a pager and you can go to some of the close shops while you wait which was a pleasure! Food was good - I really enjoyed my banana's foster french toast, and everyone enjoyed the home fries. Eggs benedict was ok based on what my sister and daughter said. OJ was ok, fresh fruit bowl was very nice.

  • Tammi T.

We almost didn't get to eat the breakfast! So they have this policy that you have to get your name in before 11.30am to have the breakfast menu. We didn't realize that when we put our names down and were informed that we can only order from the lunch menu. In fact we'd already ordered our lunch but our waitress came through for us and put our breakfast orders through. Girl knows how to hustle, girl gets great tip which she's very grateful for, mutual backscratching benefits everyone. I got a egg scrambler with lobster, shrimp, scallops and crab. Pretty good except it's disappointing to see imitation crab. Might as well not include the "crab". The corn beef hash was also really good, and the chocolate chip french toast - can't go wrong with that.

After my mom declared this the best place to get blueberry pancakes, I began Mission: Swiftly get my hind parts to Linda Jean's. I am a HUGE fan of blueberry pancakes. Linda Jean's did not disappoint! If you are a fan of blueberry pancakes, you must try them here! LJ's (as commonly referred to by the locals) is located on Circut Ave. (the main street in Oak Bluffs) and is seated among several souvenir shops, ice cream parlors and clothing stores. It's a popular place, so be prepared to wait. They will give you a buzzer and tell you to wait outside, but my friends and I are convinced that it's just a ploy to get you to wait. Our buzzer never went off after our estimated 20 minute wait time. When we went to go see what was going on, the hostess seated us immediately. Weird, huh? Long story short, don't depend on that buzzer thingy. It's a mere prop. I ordered an egg done over easy, a biscuit and some bacon along with my pancakes. Everything was very satisfying, except the biscuit. It was way too dense for me. I took one bite out of it and felt like I weighed a ton. No thanks.

  • Nicholas G.

Linda Jean's is a great restaurant with a nice central location in the downtown of Oak Bluffs. I had a great waitress by the name of Kim and the food was well portioned and rather tasty. I highly recommend the blueberry pancakes for breakfast and the lobster/clam roll for lunch - great options in the summer season! As great as the restaurant may be, they accept every major credit card except for Discover - This is a serious blunder that needs to be fixed as soon as possible by the management team. I wish them all the best in fulfilling this request because no restaurant should lose legitimacy and customer satisfaction over something as simple as not accepting the full suite of credit options! Even the small and tattered restaurant down the road by the name of Biscuits accepts all credit and debit options. - Linda Jean's still has room for improvement and I hope they care enough about the customer experience to work on these faults.

  • Charmie S.

This is the joint that is so good, it doesn't need a sign. True story!!! Had the breakfast sandwich with egg and Canadian bacon. The biscuit was clearly homemade.. very thick, dense -- mealy. Think stick to the roof of your mouth. LJ's loses a star for customer service. We walked in and were handed the beeping device. And told 20 minutes for a table. So we palled around Circuit Avenue for about 30 minutes. No beep. So we marched in, only to be seated right away. Confusing? Our feelings exactly. Short of it: good food, be prepared to wait a bit.

  • Sarah S.

Delicious food and large portions. We loved it! It's too bad we almost skipped the place because our motel receptionist said she didn't like Linda Jean's because she doesn't like breakfast sandwiches. Well...that's not all they serve. Great breakfast joint!

This seems to be on the more inexpensive end on all the $$ restaurants here. I ordered Shrimp, Scallop and Lobster. Clam Chowder is great. I think this is a good bang for your dollar.

Took my boys there for dinner and the food was good, the server was great and the prices Vineyard reasonable. This is one of the best places on the Island to bring younger children.

Husband and I visited just this morning. I ordered two egg whites, bowl of fruit, grilled cornbread--all fabulous! First I was served a cereal bowl size of fresh fruit--watermelon, blueberries, cantaloupe, grapes, bananas, strawberries. Then arrived a huge place of "two" egg whites--so much would love to see the chicken that laid those eggs! Grilled cornbread was on the specials and I'm a sucker for cornbread and they did not disappoint--grilled perfect in, of course, butter. My husband ordered the French toast that was HUGE and he said terrific. Service was prompt and friendly--coffee good too. Would highly recommend and will visit again :)

We caught them on their last day open before they close for 6 weeks. I got the double take. 2 french toast 2 eggs 2 sausage AND 2 bacon. Awesome. This place was a great end to a great trip

Excellent food and service. We were seated at the table that wanted without asking. The MESS that includes spinach and Swiss cheese was delicious.

  • Bren P.

Went there for breakfast and it was one of the only places open for business since most of the restaurants were closed for the season. We were happy to find a place! (We were there the weekend of the 26th) I ordered the Green Eggs and Ham since it caught my eye. Had to try it. It was eggs, spinach and ham with rye toast and potato hash. I thought it was pretty good. Nothing too special tho. I did like the rye toast tho!

Great breakfast and service. Very popular. Expect to wait for table. Blueberry pancakes excellent. Seafood omelet very good with shrimp, bay scallops & lobster. Fake crab was added which should be omitted by chef. Coffee good. Roasted potatoes nice change from fried home fries. Friendly wait staff. I was there 5/24 & 5/25.

Conveniently located on the main st. right after you get off the ferry in oak bluffs. It was the first place we stumbled upon and the reviews were pretty good so we gave it a shot. Luckily there was no wait time. I was looking for something that wasn't too filling for breakfast as we had a long day of exploring to do and I didn't want to be stuffed and lethargic. But in true me fashion I saw the Double Play: french toast, 2 eggs, bacon, and sausage, and had to have it. The french toast was well made and the eggs for some reason stuck out as exceptionally tasty. Good location for tourists and service is attentive.

  • Maureen K.

Very disappointed. : ( We used to come to Linda Jean's all the time for breakfast while you get good portions for little cost. I ordered Eggs Benedict, pointed to the specials menu where it was and asked for side of sausage. My eggs came out on top of ham with potatoes on the side. I was expecting asparagus. I don't eat potatoes. I nicely told the waitress that I was expecting asparagus and she said I should have told her Eggs Benedict Supreme and that I would have to pay extra for asparagus. She was very rude. You would expect her to confirm which Eggs Benedict I wanted and be clued in on the side of meat. If I was Spike Lee who was sitting a couple tables down from me asked for asparagus, you know he would have received asparagus.

This is as typical of a restaurant as you can get. Standard menu, reasonable price, decent service, nothing special nor scornful. Okay for a simple sit down meal.

The food is fine here for breakfast or brunch. I recommend branching out for lunch. The wait staff is kind, but the tables weren't always bussed and the food is nothing to write home (or yelp, for that matter) about.

Linda Jean's Restaurant - July 2nd, 2012 I have to say I had a little bit of a "Falling Out" moment when we arrived at this place at 11:40am and asked if they were still serving breakfast only to find out that cut off time was 11:30am. With two grumpy Teenagers in tow that wanted pancakes we were off to a rocky start.... We had Clam chowder, chicken wings, Mozzarella sticks, A hot dog, a patty melt w/fries, pastrami sandwich w/coleslaw+potato salad, Grilled Cheese Sandwich w/Bacon and a Caesar salad w/chicken. Cons: The cheese in the Mozzarella sticks wasn't hot enough. They were good but not great. Caesar salad.....don't serve it if you don't know how to make it. Pros: The food (besides the ones mentioned in the cons...) was plentiful and absolutely delicious. Prices reasonable.

We had a fabulous lunch here. It was actually recommended by the taxi driver who did our driving tour of the island. I got chicken fingers and they were really great, especially with the sweet honey mustard sauce that they serve. My daughter got a steak sandwich and she said it was one of the best that she has had. The waitress was very friendly, and was great about going into the kitchen to ask the cook some questions for us. Another person came to the table frequently to clear away finished dishes. The location is great, right on the road with all of the shops. We would definitely return.

Breakfast at Linda Jean's will happen to you at some point if you linger on the Vineyard for a bit. It's like clapping for the sunset at Menemsha, visiting the Farmer's Market in West Tisbury or building a sandcastle on the beach with your kids. It will be done. Linda Jean's has the aura of a small off-island IHOP. The menu is basic and familiar. Hefty pancakes, home fries, buttered toast with jelly, scrambled eggs and bacon. The waitresses have been there forever and are efficiency experts. It's right in the middle of Circuit Avenue, surrounded by tourist friendly shops, restaurants that offer alcohol and more diverse menus, but good old Linda Jean's carries on. Frankly, I find the atmosphere more than a little depressing. It just seems tired, somehow. I know Linda Jean's has a serious fan base but I just can't imagine walking the streets waiting for a table to open up. I'd wander over to Mocha Mott's or drive to the airport for breakfast if told I had some kind of a wait. (Not to mention the Art Cliff or Among the Flowers which offer far superior breakfasts.) I have succumbed to Linda Jean's basic comfort food for breakfast during the off-season but would never come here for dinner unless some sweet little grilled cheese, hot dog loving kid pleaded with me for a few hours. Thankfully, that has not happened yet.

On vacation and visiting the Vineyard for the first time, late April and hardly anything open in Oak Bluffs. We stumbled upon this place and was pleasantly surprised with the food. We both had the Clam Chowder, and the fried clams for lunch. Very impressed with the Clam Chowder, was really tasty and had lots of clams. We shared an order of the fried clams, it came with french fries and cole slaw. It was good but not the best I have ever had. Very clean restaurant and the waitress we had was very nice and helpful. We hear that this place is VERY busy during the summer and you can see why. 4 stars, always room for improvement, but overall a nice dining experience.

Linda Jeans was my favorite restaurant on MV when I was about 8. My mom and I would walk there, and I would order cinnamon toast and two sausage patties. (ideal combination of sugar and grease). Some twenty two years later, LJ's isn't quite as exciting, despite the crowds (now given beepers) lingering on Circuit Ave. The breakfast is OK- all the variations of egg you want, home fries, etc. but the ambience is depressing and the servers often seem sullen (last time we went there, my mother in law asked if she could order #2 and make it an omelette and the waitress kept saying "I can't omelette #2." I had no idea "to omelette" was a verb), and the food isn't worth the long wait.

One of the best restaurants on the island. I've loved Linda Jean's since I was little. This was the only place I'd ever eat on the island when I was a little older than a toddler. It's great for children, teenagers, adults, elders. Everybody. I'm usually on the island on mothers day, and this was the only restaurants who gave all the women I was with, flowers. It was magnificent. I'm going back in 16 days, and I know I'll be there more than once!

We stumbled on this place for lunch during our designated "Oak Bluffs" day on the island. At first, I was skeptical... the decor was a little dated and diner-ish, and the menu seemed almost too typical fare. I decided to take a major risk and order their "lobster salad sandwich" (lobster roll). I just can't resist these when I'm on vacation anywhere in New England. To my surprise, it turned out to be one of the better rolls I've had. Its makers understood the importance of buttering the bun (a little salt goes a long way for lobster rolls) and although I'm usually a less-is-more person with dressing, the dressing was pretty tasty and I really enjoyed it. With the fries, it was just the right amount of food for me but for $19 I could see a male patron being frustrated. My mom ordered the turkey club - it was very fresh and tasty. Overall, we had good food for fairly reasonable prices. I'd go back. I'd maybe rate 3.5 stars if that were an option.

HUGE FAN! I went here with my mom last week for lunch when we did a day trip to the vineyard. She had been to Linda Jean's before and was dying to order the patty melt again. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and for starters we shared some onion rings. The onion rings were very good and a great way to help curb our appetite a bit. The sandwiches came out looking glorious. Being the food lovers we are, we decided to share our meals half and half. The chicken was grilled to perfection- still moist but fully cooked through and a nice dish for such a hot day out. However... the patty melt was incredible! It just melted in your mouth while you ate it. It has to be one of the best patty melt's i've ever had the pleasure of indulging in. Aside from this, service was very good-quick, kind, and lighthearted- even though the restaurant got packed shortly after our arrival the service was still great. The AC didn't hurt either! :-)

They serve up breakfasts here that make you almost wish you had a hangover. Great place for unpretentious, solid breakfast fare.

Great breakfast here. There will be a wait however they give you a pager and there are plenty of shops around to browse. The chicken fried steak with gravy and a biscuit were mouthwatering. The waffles with fruit were also very tasty. Service was very friendly and patient.

Great place for hardy meal at a good price. casual. Service always friendly. Been going for years. During peak season can wait for seating at breakfast.. Worth it

Linda Jean's will get the 5 star for our gangs for their great service only. Their food is fresh and home-made quality like your mom would make for you. We have been looking for the all combination of right atmosphere, food quality, and good service attitudes, and, they are really hard working to make our expectation all met with smiles. I always forget that they have a good breakfast menu and totally forget that it is NOT served all day. And, I have tried out lunch/dinner for lunch hours. They are on the basic sides but you don't feel bad about what you put in your stomach, and, they have always have healthier choices on the menu. And, most of all, everything is fresh! The servers are great team workers, they remember you if you are there second time! and you feel at home there. Isn't that what many people want? I am a new frequent to this place over the winter time. Good job! Linda jean's!

Seems to be one of the best breakfast spots in the vineyard. I had eggs benedict which seemed pretty standard. Nothing special... I saw better dishes being served and I had serious buyers remorse with my eggs. Home fries were great though! The service was great and friendly.

Had to wait for a table at 9:30 AM for breakfast, but the wait time was short. The interior of the restaurant is wonderful. Food was really good, although my eggs were a little runny. My only complaint was the staff. Not the friendliest bunch. But then again, I didn't find anyone that worked on MV to be friendly. All of them seem to have an attitude. Smile more and be gracious. You may get a bigger tip next time!!!!

Basic fair. Nothing really speacial. Some say they have the best lobster rolls on island! As with many island businesses, the servers aren't always concerned about the customer service.

ohhhhh myyyy goooodddddd have you tried there burgers????? Its about 12:30 on a Friday afternoon me and the girls are hot, hungover, starving and all we want is a burger!! SO, we ask the little information man where to go for a burger and he says "Linda Jean's up a few blocks. The line was well worth the wait. The hostess seated us and I realized that she was the girl who jumped up on stage the night before and shook her ass around the band I was watching. Funny how she didn't "know" how to speak English last night, but she did this day.... Anyways,.... the waitress took forever to bring us waters and soda and by that time we were ready to order. My friend ordered the french dip sandwich thing and my sister and I both ordered the regular American Burger. I asked for pickles on top, my sis asked for extra pickles, we both asked for cheese, and I asked for mine medium well and she asked for hers well. WELL, we both get TWO pickles on the side, no cheese and both well done. Hmm.... I think they screwed that one up!! BUT --- its okay! The burgers were great! We both asked the waitress for a slice of cheese and she wanted to take our plates back but we said no, just bring us each a piece of cheese and we'll be fine. I wasn't hungry enough for a spit burger, I'll take what I was given!! lol.. Well, its been a week since we've been there and my sis and I both can't stop talking about the greatest burger we had at Linda Jeans, ... The service sucked, though the waitress was real nice... not sure how any of the other food is but the burgers are phenomenal! Reminder: You're in the Vineyard be prepared to pay $3 for a glass of soda.

I'm not sure what draws the crowds to this breakfast spot. Parking is difficult, even in the off season. This could be a breakfast spot anywhere, there's nothing about the decor or menu that grounds it in a New England seaside town. The food is average and the service abysmal. I ordered the Frenchy -- a croissant with egg, cheese and ham. After two of my friends were served the waitress informed me that they were out of croissants and offered to substitute another bread. I chose an English muffin. When I got my order, it was egg, cheese and sausage on an English muffin. My friend sent back her eggs because they were undercooked and they re-appeared without the hash browns that were supposed to come with them and that had been on the plate before the return. It took to the end of the meal to get water and coffee refills were slow.

This review is for breakfast only. I have been eating here for years and never thought to write a review; that is until, I read a Yelp review about another dining facility on M.V. where the reviewer declared that the restaurant had "the best" blueberry pancakes ever. To that I say, clearly you have yet to make it down island to Linda Jean's...clearly. (That's right - I'm talking to you) Whenever we hit the island breakfast at Linda Jean's is the first destination on everyone's mind. The wait is at times annoying but once seated the servers are fast and the food is always worth it. Even if you are not in the mood for a plate of pancakes I strongly suggest you either 1) get a plate for the table and share; or 2) order a side order (I think just 1 pancake). Similar to para-sailing or reading the Illiad, this is just something you want to say you did (I find the "best pancakes ever" conversation to be a great ice breaker).

I was told by the gentleman at the info booth in the center of town that this was the best brunch in Oak Bluffs. I believe he must be sadly mistaken. Anyhow, I hope so. Although it was OK, it just isn't that hard to make eggs and potatos. Their specials weren't special at all. The price however was fair and it was edible. I actually like this kind of fare, but in this case have a hard time recommending it. Service was good, coffee was good...food was mediocre at best. Maybe if you know the chef or just order the regular menu fare it's better.

visited in July 2010. Had a lovely brunch here with a good friend! service was attentive. food was well prepared and super tasty. we had to wait a bit, and there isn't a lot of room available for waiting unfortunately. the bathroom was super cute. I really liked the little two seater booth/table we sat at it. Perfect atmosphere for two old friends catching up. would definitely go back!

Food(7.0/10)=The food at Linda Jean's Restaurant (LJR) wasn't anything special. My friends and I visited this place because it was recommended to us by Adam at "Ben & Bill's Chocolate Emporium" down the street. We ordered the following dishes: 1)Basket of mini corn dogs=The only reason we ordered this was because I used to eat these a lot as a kid growing up in the South (Macon, GA). These corndogs are pretty much standard in flavor and texture. This dish comes with a honey mustard dipping sauce. 2)Lobster salad roll=I wasn't expecting much so I wasn't that disappointed with the lobster roll. The lobster isn't fresh. The lobster meat only had a hint of its natural flavor. Would have been nice if the bun (they used a hot dog bun) was toasted. 3)Filet of fish sandwich=I didn't get a chance to try this but I think it was just OK for my friend. 4)Crab salad roll=This was a big rip-off! The "crab" meat is actually imitation crab meat. If you don't plan to use REAL crab meat in your crab roll, at least have the decency to inform your customers on your menu. 5)LJ's steak sandwich=This was actually pretty tasty relative to the other stuff we ordered. The portions were big as well. This steak sandwich is basically a "Philly cheese-steak sandwich." 6)Scallop roll=I always stay away from fried seafood. Why? Because the piece of seafood is usually "drowned" in batter. Bay scallops are already small and any place that fry seafood (not just LJR) should at least let the customers taste the food they ordered. Overall, the food is so-so. I went into LJR with low expectations anyways given that Martha's Vineyard is a touristy place. ***check out my uploaded picks of the food*** Ambiance(6.5/10)=There's really not much to look at here. The place sort of has a diner feel to it (utensils, cups, plates, etc.). The tables seemed like they haven't been wiped down with soap or any grease-fighting solution for a while. The silverware didn't seem very clean as well. Service(6.5/10)=Service was OK, but sometimes It felt slow. The waitress was attentive with water at times, but also left us thirsty at other points during our meal. Overall opinion=If I ever visit this area of Martha's Vineyard (MV) again (ie. Oak Bluffs), I wouldn't step into LJR for food. Since I've only been to MV once, I can't recommend any other places to eat. In conclusion, LJR isn't worth it.

We just came back from the Vineyard and ate at Linda Jeans. We ate their last summer as well and both experiences were horrible. Wait staff was extremely rude. Food was not that good and the price was expensive for what you got. I will not go back there again. Two strikes for me is enough!

  • Melissa M.

No, no. Don't go here! Just get a bagel down the street or go anywhere else. This place reminds me of a Friendly's and that is not a good thing. Well, if you like to wait in lines and reek of breakfast all day. Oh, and if you like sticky tables and dirty silverware then this is the place for you!

Yummy breakfast-- but crowded in the summer like most breakfast places in the Vineyard. Serves classic American breakfast, nothing unusual, but tasty.

yum-i love this resteraunt, initially i only ate breakfast here, but last summer, after many years of just breakfast, had dinner and it was yummy! only 4 stars b/c on a busy day you can wait for a while to get a table, but that just means they know what they're doing. can't wait to go back this summer during vacation.

Was taken here by a local who has lived most of her adult life on the vineyard. Apparently this place is an oak bluffs staple/institution. It was rather simple and homey/casual ( very small island-like ). Got a bowl of the clam chowder and it was great. Service was prompt and the experience was very pleasant to catch up with friends. It was off-season and not very busy. Would come back.

After being told that I'd have an hour wait at the Offshore Ale House (in the off season?), I strolled over to Linda Jean's for dinner. My expectations were modest, but darn it, they delivered. Ordered the steamed mussels appetizer. Yum! If you like a garlic broth, you'll love them. Then I had the fried clams for my main course. Believe it or not, they may have been the best fried clams I've had on the Island ever....and that includes The Bite up in Menemsha. Fresh, plump, and perfectly cooked. The cole slaw was fresh and tasted homemade. The tartar sauce for the clams was noteworthy. It was freshly made and had a great vinegary note. The service was attentive. Be forewarned: No liquor license and decor circa 1962. Prices are very fair and downright cheap by Vineyard standards.

Is waiting 20 minutes for a table worth it for breakfast? It is for me. The menu is on the smallish side, but the prices are fair given the location. The daily specials are usually the best route to go. The food is simple, but done really well. I've never had a problem with undercooked eggs and the potatoes are always perfect. The coffee is nothing special, so I usually run across the street to Mocha Mott's while I'm waiting for a table. The waitresses have always been very pleasant. While my order was jacked up the last time I went, the waitress was very nice about it and I got a new order really quick. My wife has been going to this place for almost 20 years and it has never let her down.

Linda Jeans has been one of my favorite places for years. The food quality is very good and the service is friendly. The prices have gotten way out of hand. I had breakfast with my two young sons and it was over $40.00. We did not get anything crazy just standard break fast items. Eggs and Bacon for me, and pancakes for the boys. The Chocolate milk, and Large OJ (from machine) were $ 3.75 each. Even my 7 year old was shocked saying that we could go across the street to the Reliable Market and get a gallon of chocolate milk for less. Maybe it's just "seasonal" pricing but I am gone. In a few weeks when the crowds are gone, I can get to Vineyard Haven almost as quickly for breakfast.

This place has not, and will not change. I guess I can respect that. The food is standard american fare - sandwiches, fries, chowder, etc. Nothing special, but not too bad either. Personally I'd seek out something else if you're going to be sitting down at a restaurant.

    (3)
  • Paul L.

First off - the restaurant is "dry". Not that it doesn't have a license, but the waitress' tone implied that it was a CHOICE to not have beer, wine or spirits. Inasmuch as I don't trust a person who doesn't drink, the same should be applied to a restaurant. Mediocre food, at best. Service was pleasant, but nothing special either.

Since this is THE only place that serves hot breakfast in OB, expect ~20 min wait on popular weekends. The menu is tiny compare to chains like dennys or IHOP, but the food is better than average and the portion is generous. The price is not bad at all - $9.99 for steak + 3 eggs + home fried potatoes + toast + coffee. Eggs benedict with fish cake was okay. They also have daily specials which are usually good - one of them I had was the special omelete with asparagus, ham, cheese, and whatnot. They do have takeout - so if line is too long, just get it to go and eat it on the bench across the street.

The place to eat for Breakfast in Oak Bluffs. If you are here on a Sunday morning, expect to see EVERYONE you have EVER SEEN during your time at the Vineyard. Was there on a Sunday morning and the wait was about 1 hr and 15 min. It was good, but not earth shattering. The prices are very reasonable and the blueberry pancakes were good.

good pancakes...outback style buzzers not so much.

  • Jo B.

Went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning with my husband, 3 year old and 1 year old. They said the wait would be 25 minutes, they gave us one of those buzzer thingies, and lo and behold, exactly 25 minutes later, it buzzed. I was thinking, so far, so good. We got to our table and there was a little cup of crayons and color-able place menu ready for my 3 year old to start - perfect. Everything on the menu sounded appetizing, but we didn't want to eat a huge breakfast, so my husband and I decided to share an entree called "The Mess".....scrambled eggs with spinach, onions and swiss cheese....except we substituted mushrooms for the swiss. It was really good - came with potatoes and toast, great size for sharing if you don't want to be overly full from breakfast when you head down to the beach in your bathing suit. My daughter got a bagel with cream cheese, nothing special there, but she was happy with it. The service was as good as could be expected given that the place was pretty packed. I would definitely go there again, possibly try the belgian waffles with fresh fruit....someone at the table next to us got it and it looked amazing. I couldn't give this place 5 stars because the coffee wasn't the greatest. I wouldn't say it was horrible, but just a very boring medium roast coffee. If you're someone that needs to have an amazing cup of coffee in the morning, you may want to skip this place, otherwise it's worth checking out.
